NEPC trains S East non-oil exporters on digital marketing

The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) says it has trained at least 50 Southeast non-oil exporters in digital marketing.

Mrs Salamatu Audi of the policy and strategy department of the council said this on Friday during the training on e-commerce for the zone of Enugu.

Audi said the training was aimed at helping exporters use the council’s e-commerce platform effectively.

She indicated that the training was organized by the NEPC in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

She said it has become expedient for exporters to facilitate their business through digital marketing due to the high rate of insecurity and shrinking economy.

According to Audi, digital marketing gives people the opportunity to access a free online portal.

seven It also helps to provide exporters with the platform to have a “domain name” to market their products.

“Previously, our exporters couldn’t do much to market their products because of the distance and the costs involved.

“To break down barriers in business, you need to be tech-savvy and have online stores.

Audi said that in the digital age, physical stores are no longer enough to participate in the global market.

“So we are collaborating with NITDA to train operators of small and medium enterprises,” she said.

She said the participants “have already reasonably built up their capabilities in the global market.”

She said they would receive free personal domain names, where they would market their products for a year.

Also, the South-East Regional Coordinator of the commune, Mr. Arnold Jacksonsaid the training was aimed at helping participants introduce their products to the global market.

Jackson said e-commerce has revolutionized global commerce and people don’t need to physically move their products before selling them.

“We want to expose exporters in the zone to e-Commerce platforms to ensure that they sell their products via the Internet.

“With the current reality of the country, the best thing to do is to go digital, but there are certain parameters that need to be in place to be able to sell on this platform,” Jackson said.

Also, a NEPC official, Mr. Tony Olenloasaid non-oil exports had become the country’s only viable means of survival.

Olenloa said that as part of its services, NEPC has helped exporters withstand global competition.

A NITDA representative, Mr. Oguntade Adeseyesaid digital marketing has helped businesses create value for their customers and build a strong customer relationship.
